POW! Right in the Christmas

On Thursday 1st December the UAM team went down to the opening night of POWs winter show. Star of the show Evol had a large variety of original work on display. The show also featured upcoming POW prints from Mighty Mo, Tilt, and Paul Insect to name a few.

Evol, the Berlin based stencilist brought his super detailed concrete jungle stylings applied to his signature mediums of cardboard and street style storage units. We absolutely love the amount of detailing he puts into his work and a big thumbs up at how his street style is still showing through to his gallery work today. Keep and eye out on the blog for more EVOL.

A variety of prints will be available over the next few weeks, and a Banksy early next year, so keep your eye on their site. Alex is really hyped for getting his mitts on a Mighty Mo, they do look amazing.

POWs show runs until 23rd December so go and check it out if you’re around London. The gallery is located at 46-48 Commercial Street, London E1. Nearest tube Aldgate East or Liverpool St.

Village Underground: The Wall

Village Underground are trying to gain funding to turn the exterior wall of their premises into a public art space. They have rejected big offers from advertising companies who want to sell their nonsense and have decided to put awesome artwork up instead. Good for them! We think this is a great idea, so have a look at the kickstarter video to get involved if you so choose! They are offering some great rewards if you do.

New work from Von – Semblance

We at UAM have been following Von’s work for a while now and are massive fans. We absolutely love the fluidity and often intensity he can bring out of a portrait, whilst still being able to show the true emotion from the subject. His work is influenced by nature and popular culture his artwork is both detailed and abstract, being able to flawlessly walk the line between surrealism and documentary portraiture to capture a mood in what appears to be a fleeting moment in time.

Von has a new set of beautifully created limited edition prints, in a hand made collectors edition box named Semblance. If you can’t get down to his launch on the 24th, have a look at the site listed below. You will not be disappointed.

Exhibit #1 – Graphic Bar, London

On Sunday 13th November we took over Graphic Bar in Soho, London, with our first ever urban art showcase!

After months of late night planning at our “headquarters”, frequent meetings in London with various artists and companies – often followed with several celebratory drinks – the highly anticipated Exhibit #1 event arrived and to say we were overwhelmed with the attendance is an understatement!

Over 160 people attended (give or take ten, once Megan found a clicker to record numbers!) to look at the work, have a few drinks, chat to the artists, us and other spectators – the community vibe was alive! Clearly it was buzzing enough for the legendary DJ Tim Westwood to even drop in and have a look, as he was passing on his way back from the gym!

But the biggest names we have to thank for Exhibit #1 are our UAM artists: Bruce Parker, Carl Cashman and International Nobody. They were there early to set up with us at Graphic Bar, putting the finishing touches to their work, chatting to everyone who came – we couldn’t have asked to work with better artists for our first show! For those who weren’t able to attend, you can check out their “On the Wall” interviews on the previous blog entries.

Positioned in the centre of the gallery, Bruce put his black and white spin on our competition, creating an exclusive one off graphic live at the event. His work sparked a huge interest, with just under half of those attending Exhibit #1 entering the competition! Look out for the winner announcement this Sunday.

So what’s next… for those who have been asking yes we are planning for Exhibit #2 more details will follow in the new year, but if you’re interested in being part of the next big showcase then email us! As some of you may have seen we had several film crews at the event so keep your eyes peeled as we’ll be releasing a few of these over the next week or so, along with our promo video!

Lastly, a big thanks to all those that attended or supported us with the launch of Exhibit #1. Remember you make the movement, so lets keep it growing.
